Last night in the rain, after a looong time looking for parking in the East Village, we found a spot of 4th St. near C and were going to have a late, light supper and drink at Caffè Vino & Cucina but it was crowded and we glimpsed a quieter place next door, Ma-Ya, fusion Thai. It had a nice feel and a table so we sat down to a long list of fusion cocktails - lychee cosmopolitans to Sake mojitos, as well as some non-alcoholic concoctions. They were good, but the appetizers were quite tasty, especially the calamari. The fried pork on toast is also nice though with some oil taste. The green chicken curry was also just right, not Sripaphai but spicy for green curry and the chicken was perfectly cooked. To be frank, we had planned to eat light, but I wanted to check out just about everything on the menu. The service and even the restroom were quite tasteful. They have a downstairs music space, and the prices were very reasonable.
