Lyon's Grille - Palm Springs

phee | Mar 24, 200312:10 PM

we visited Palm Springs this weekend, and happened upon Lyon's Grille on E. Palm Canyon because it was close and we were tired. what a lovely surprise! the design was part British pub, part supper club, and reminded me of places my parents would venture for a "dinner out" when I was little. any place that starts you off with complimentary pate and crackers along with fresh popovers can't be all bad. in fact, the food was quite good. while their parslied potatoes and salad were fairly unexciting, the veal, beef wellington, prime rib and lamb were lovely and done exactly to specification. note the wellingtons are made individually, and the prime rib and lamb were both very healthy portions. we split desserts, which were banana split ice cream cake, mocha chocoate ice cream cake, and white chocolate cheesecake. while not "over the top", they were all delicious. the service was attentive without being obnoxious, and the drinks were a healthy pour (i.e., no skimpy shots here!). I recommend this place for anyone who wants good food and excellent service.
