My boyfriend and I went to the new Luke Sing restaurant, Lux, last night. We were very excited because we love Isa. The restaurant was packed, but we had reservations and were seated immediately. The decor is nice, but the seats seem very close and it's pretty loud.

The food was good - similar to Isa, but with an Asian twist versus the French twist at Isa. We had goat cheese wontons with apricot compote (my favorite), polenta & portabello fries (interesting and tasty, but the portabello taste was very faint), crab & corn soup (good, but not exceptional), green onion pancake with salmon & zucchini (tasty, but missing something - could have used a little sauce) skate wing with brown butter and capers (my boyfriend's favorite), and hoison duck leg confit (crispy skin and moist inside, but could have used a little more hoisin sauce).

We usually each get a dessert, but the dessert menu was pretty boring - sorbet, chocolate cake, creme caramel, or a fruit tart. None of the descriptions made it sound like any of them was exceptional, so we did not get any.

Overall, the food was good - not up to Isa standards, but creative and better than average. The only thing that would stop me from going back is that is was very loud and cramped. The other thing is that the service left a lot to be desired. I'm not sure if it is due to the fact that it is a new restaurant or if it is the serving style - we had about 5 different people helping us, so we didn't really know who our waiter was and who to ask for help.
