On Saturdays my office orders takeout for lunch (as we all work through lunch hour...). When we crave Mexican we usually do La Fuente, which is usually good, but last time I ate there I was very disappointed in my enchilada. Since I felt like enchiladas today, we decided to try Lupita's...I'd enjoyed the tacos there, but had never tried anything else..all I can say is WOW!! Even the guy who doesn't like Mexican was raving about his Camerones Diablos (and with good reason...the sauce was wonderful!). I had chicken enchiladas...they came with a mole sauce. I don't usually like mole all that much, but this was delicious..with a nice kick to it! No excessive cheese. (In fact, nothing "gringoized" about the place; when my receptionist went to pick up the food she commented that she was the only English-speaking person there). They came with homemade corn tortillas, excellent rice and beans...heaven! and I had a side of delicious quacamole. One of us had a tamale that looked wonderful (and huge!) and another had the chilis rellenos...which were the real deal stuffed with vegetables and not just cheese and minimal sauce. We are all now stuffed and ready for a nap. I say check it out. If the food was that good a little cool (since I was busy when it arrived and couldn't eat for half an hour) imagine what its like fresh served with a cold beer. Lupitas is at the NW corner of Prater and McCarran, in the same shopping center as chowhound favorite Soochow (around the corner from Soochow....). Very reasonable.
