Lupa Dinner

Mark M | Oct 26, 2001 09:37 AM

I finally got over to Lupa on Thompson St on Monday nite. I'm pretty sure I found my new favorite restaurant in Manhattan - dollar for dollar one of the finest meals I have had.

Sauteed eggplant wrapped around ricotta cheese - so delicious it was like getting to have desert b/f your meal.
Prosciutto - Simply the finest, meatiest Prosciutto Ive ever tasted...

Farro Spaghettini with a spicy cauliflower ragu - Perfectly cooked pasta, nice kick to the ragu, small buttery crouton slivers to add texture - great dish.

Pappardelle in a white butter sauce with Pancetta and fingerling potato. If I had an Italian grandmother, this is something I would have been weaned on. Even the little potatos had layers of flavors.

Service was perfect and the meal was $90 including a $25 bottle of wine and tip.

I can't help but feel like I am stating the obvious - gushing so positively about a place that is uber-popular AND a Mario Battali joint BUT quite frankly, they deserve it. Can't wait to go back.
