Lunchtime Japanese food options in downtown SF

Any suggestions for lunchtime Japanese food downtown? And by "downtown" I mean anything between embarcadero and powell.

I've been wandering around looking for something palatable, but the only places that have been even remotely appealing are Kyo-ya, Medicine, and Ame. I'm not too fascinated by the french-japanese thing tho and I really don't want to be paying that much for lunch every day.

I noticed that niko niko sushi had closed down, but saw a "katana-ya coming soon" sign on a shop at geary and mason so i'm hoping they're related and will be serving ramen as well...

I searched the for the happy sushi truck every day for an entire week (I need some andagi real bad). Either you folks were lying about its existence or they're hiding from me.

I won't mention the places I have tried because they were usually so bad I wanted to either cry or stab someone and burn the place down (hey, mr. squeeze bottle, nitsume is not ketchup!).

Why is San Francisco the only city on the west coast without a good Japanese lunchtime option for under $20? I'm not even asking for much. A properly salted onigiri and some homemade tsukemono would satisfy.
