lunching solo in manhattan

As a former NY-er, I have been living overseas for the past year but will be visiting Manhattan shortly. My dinners are all planned, but I am planning solo lunches.

Apart from revisiting some past haunts, like lobster roll at Pearl Oyster Bar (or Mary's fish camp??), the crab cakes at LeZinc, the black pepper pasta at Lupa, the rillettes s'wich at the little sliver of a French cafe on W14th Street (forget the name), what else do people recommend? I'm actually looking into either neighborhood-y places or even more upscale restaurants like DB Bistro or d'Artagnan (some duck dish of course). The idea is just to be able to eat on my own quietly (w/book or papers) and enjoy the food.

Thanks in advance.

PS -- yes, I have already done a search, but this topic is particularly difficult to do a refined search.
