Lunch Report - Hei La Moon, Uncle Pete's

JudyHP | Jan 11, 2008 11:37 AM

Had an opportunity this week for a few lunches out. Went for dim sum at Hei La Moon and loved it! That is the place to go, esp on a weekday - you don't have the weekend crowds or a line out the door but the dining room is full and bustling. I can't remember everything we had, but standouts to me were the BBQ Pork Bun, the delicious spare ribs (in little bite-size pieces falling off the bone), and chicken shu Mei dumplings and the awesome turnip cakes. The ladies with the carts came around many times - there was a big selection from the carts, and everything was very fresh. There were only 2 of us lunching so I didn't get to try as much as I would have liked. 2 Thumbs Up for week-day dim sum at HLM!!

Uncle Pete's today. Excellent pulled pork lunch sandwich. Got the 'mango salsa' for an appetizer- I love that stuff - it s more like cucumber, mango, tomato, peanuts, and a thai sauce. The pulled pork was fantastic. Also a side of onion rings, perfectly cooked. The asian slaw is so delicious. I got a side of the BBQ beans - those are a little too sweet for my taste. Our lunches did NOT come with the sweet potato hockey pucks...but they are still listed on the menu. I was happy to see almost all of the booths filled at about 12:30. Saw a plate of ribs to go another table -they looked wonderful. Smoker outside was going, the parkinglot smelled so good (in Revere!!). Staff there is so nice and just lovely people.
