Luna Park, Thanks for the great recommendations

Judith Hurley | Sep 21, 2003 11:59 PM

We had dinner on Saturday evening at Luna Park. Knowing we would be there, I asked for recommendations, and we managed as many suggestions from this board as two people could. I started with a mojito, which was described as one of the best. I don't drink much beyond wine and beer as a rule, so I'm not a practiced judge, but it was wonderful. . . cold, minty and refreshing on what turned out to be an incredibly hot evening.

My husband and I shared the tuna poke, and then he had the sea bass and I had the lamb shank. It was really a hot evening for lamb shank (in fact, for most of the things on the menu), but I'd been thinking about it ever since I read the post that suggested it. It was really tender and tasty. My husband finished with bananas foster, and I got my customary large spoonful. Large over-the-top desserts are not my thing, but the bananas were crispy and the rum was really rummy.

The service was excellent, and I have to note . . . someone said it was an exceptionally noisy place. We had an early 6 PM reservation, because we were catching a show. Needless to say, it wasn't noisy when we arrived. But the place was full as we were leaving, definitely a full-fledged urban buzz, especially at the bar, but I didn't find it at all overwhelming. There are several places that strike me as far noisier.
