I was surprised to find tonight that the parking lot for I Love Sushi on Lake Union now charges $3 at lunch and dinner. I suppose lots of restaurants don't offer parking lots, and some charge more than $3 for valet parking. But I can't think of any restaurant that has a pay lot (admittedly shared with other building tenants). And I think every other restaurant is either on a city street (which offers at least the prospect of free or metered parking) or has a free parking lot.
The only places where I am pretty much forced to pay for a private parking lot are big suburban complexes like Enchanted Village and the Puyallup Fair. That feels like a ripoff too. But I don't like paying this for visits to my regular sushi haunt.
Perhaps drivers should pay their fair share, but this charge seems unprecedented. Am I being unreasonable?
