I love Lumiere

pigletthepug | Apr 10, 2004 11:12 PM

Just had our second dinner at Lumiere in Newton with husband. Loved it.

Craving for some European food (usually eat Asian), and remembered the wonderful duck confit salad and scallop dish we had last year at Lumiere. So called at 7 to reserve a table at 9.

Turned out no duck confit salad (more summer fare according to the maitre'd), but we had a wonderful meal nonetheless. Hubby had salmon (raw/slightly smoked I think) app and roast chicken main course. Both were just excellent. The chicken was tasty with no hint of dryness whatsoever, tasted much much better than the roast chicken I had at Hammersley's. The salmon app was so good that I ordered it also during my meal. I had 2 apps to start with: braised short ribs (special of the day) and the heavenly scallop and mushroom. The short ribs were OK (mainly because I dont like rosemary/sage that is dominant in the palate), but the scallop was excellent as usual. Midway through my scallop, I ordered the salmon app for myself :). The sauce for the dish highlighted the salmon so beautifully.

No wine or dessert (complimentary 2 choc chip cookies). Bill came to 79.80 before tip. Free parking. Lovely and professional service. No dress code. Dinner was done in about 75 minutes. We will definitely be back more often.
