my new love is hot and chinese - what is this stuff traditionally used for?

Bought a jar of this hot pickled soybeans on a whim while in chinatown, and i just tasted it, and it's good! salty and high on the heat scale.


I can think of a million ways to use this, but was curious how it's used in chinese kitchens and hmes
