The other night (the same one the SO and I found out Nacho's in SM was closed), we ventured into downtown San Carlos for dinner. It was a last minute thing and I'd read that Ciao Amore had some good pasta (and free corkage). I figured a local joint must be better than say Frankie, Johnny & Luigi's or Buca di Beppo.
My SO ordered Spaghetti Bolognese, only to be told, "We're out of spaghetti." (hmm, odd, ok). Ok, no biggie, angel hair is fine. I ordered the ravioli -- stuffed with spinach, ricotta and prosciutto.
The entrees come with salad and bread (though we didn't get any of the latter). Salad was straight forward -- romaine with a few chunks of tomato in a Caesar-ish dressing.
The entrees arrive -- both doused in a strangely pink tomatoes-are-not-in-season sauce. The raviolis were okay, with a non-descript meaty taste overall. My SO wouldn't comment much, but later said, "The Olive Garden is better than that." 'Nuff said.
Anyone else have thoughts on this place? Did we just hit it on an off night or should we just fuhgeddaboutit and do what we know we should and head up to North Beach. :-)
