" L'Opera, 280 West Beaver Creek, Richmond Hill " - One GUTSY business venture!!

Whilst shopping for some Shanghai Dim Sum at the 'Yu_Seafood Plaza', I came across this fairly new 'Pastry 'Coffee Shop'.

What attracted me to go in for a browse was their gutsy business model - A line of cheesecake, macaroon and other pastry products using ' Musang King DURIAN ' as main ingredients! Great if one is a Durian Lover!

In addition, to balance things off, they do offer some other 'regular' Cheesecakes, macaroons and butter cookies etc for 'Durian-phobia' person like myself!

I did some complimentary taste testing of their butter-cookies which I found pretty crunchy, buttery and enjoyable.......a bit like Scottish butter Shortbread! As well, I took home a piece of their Chocolate cake to try. This I found a bit too sweet for my palate. As well, the profile of the chocolate used was rather plain and lacking high-end ' quality dark chocolate ' complexity.

With some superb pastry shops like Duo and Ruelo in the vicinity, I think, with their existing sub-par product line, it will be a challenge for them to compete and survive?!
