I bought a 9 oz. bottle of horseradish that contains only "grated fresh horseradish, vinegar, salt and (yuck) natural flavorings." It has a homemade label (Fred's Horseradish from Paynes Creek, CA - "connnoissereurs if fresh horseradish since 1956") which makes me think maybe it's more perishable for some reason. It came from the refridgerated section of a fish store on the CA coast.
The guy behind the counter said he guessed it would last only a month or six weeks, but I've had for several months now and it seems fine (the smell just brought tears to my eyes--in a good way).
Anybody know how long I should be able to keep this for? I think it would take several years for me to eat this much horseradish!
