This is my first time posting, but I have long sought advice on Chowhound! I searched the boards and couldn't find this, so here goes.
I had Chili Cheese Fries at Local 002 in SW Calgary recently, and I am trying to duplicate the braised short rib chili that topped the fries. I couldn't identify the spices used in the recipe - it definitely tasted different from my regular chili recipe, in which I use chili powder, cumin, oregano and garlic. The Local chili is also more like a stew - thick, with large chunks of meat and kidney beans, and no obvious veggies besides the tomato base.
Can anyone help me out? I love a good chili/stew, and I have been craving this meal since I tried it the other night.
