I've always wondered why I bother clicking on "Like" on Facebook for commercial entities. Now I know why. Pearl Oyster Bar posted a photo of lobster pot pie and it's the first time I've ever been moved to visit a restaurant to order a specific dish because of a photo.
Evidently, this is the first of what is going to be a series of "Greatest Hits" of POB that are going to be featured for two weeks each. It's simply the best pot pie of any kind I've ever eaten: not too creamy, with a touch of sherry, crisp vegetables (including snap peas), luscious pieces of lobster and a sturdy upper crust. It cost $25 for a big portion (although not nearly as much lobster as in the lobster roll). Only a limited number are available (and only at dinner). We got there right when they opened at 6, and the waiter started laughing when we reserved two before we were properly seated -- I guess they are going fast. The lobster pot pie is going to be available all this week and next, and then oyster pan roast is slated to be next.
There are always new restaurants, always hot restaurants, but I'm thankful for POB, a place that offers a small selection of dishes, but executes them so well. I don't remember ever seeing lobster pot pie offered at POB, so not sure how old this greatest hit is, but this is one oldie that is definitely a goodie.
