Paid a visit to the New LJ's location in the East Street shopping center for dinner last night. First off, the location alone is a huge improvement. I always got lost looking for the old place on Douglas ave.
Once inside, I was quite impressed with the new setup - I wouldn't say its upscale by any means, but definitely way more polished than the old spot - walls painted muted colors with black and white pictures hanging on the walls. In addition to the tables (some of which were a bit too crowded together for my taste), there's a nice bar area that sports a small plasma TV.
We arrived at 5:30 - what we thought a bit on the early side for dinner, but were surprised to see that the restaurant was half full. When we left at 6:30 it was downright packed. The waitress told us that many nights the bar was filled 2 or 3 deep with people waiting for tables...
The menu still includes all the old favorites - as delicious as ever, and has grown to include things like grilled pizzas and a large selection of burgers. I was not adventurous enough to veer off my usual BBQ course, but if anyone tries some of the newer things (pulled pork pizza, anyone?) definitely let us know how they are!
