Do we still live in New Orleans?

The Llama Down The Street | Apr 17, 2002 01:34 AM

lately, I've been frustrated and wondering if I still, indeed, live in the greatest late-night party city on earth. my schedule is such that I'm off sunday and monday nights and I work until 10pm all other nights. most nola restaurants are cruelly closed sun-mon. and most other restaurants close at 10pm during the week. but, I am usually able to find at least something to eat when I get off of work. lately, though, I have been the most frustrated person on the planet in my search for decent late-night food.

okay, there's camellia grill, the clover grill and port of call. but where else?!?! suppose I don't want a burger and cheese fries. yes, I've tried moonlight cafe, la peniche (cruelly closed tues-wed), the marigny brasserie (expand your menu! please!), and the evil belle forche (now seemingly closed sun-wed nights and only serving food that would shame Shoney's in an environment befitting Denny's on their new "cafe menu" late night every other night). every other place that is rumored to be "late-night dining" seems to be closed when I get there. apparently, their staffs like to take off early and hit the thousands of places you can drink until 8 am, but not eat.

please help...I've lived here my whole life and I'm losing faith in my city. I don't want to move to baltimore just to get a decent 24-hour eatery. (they have one - Paper Moon!)
