Since I basically finished my Web site, I decided to venture out and try other Sunday brunches that didnt fall into my definition of a Sunday champagne buffet brunch. I headed out today to the Lips Restaurant Sunday Gospel Brunch.
Lips is a theme restaurant devoted to divas and drag queens. The doors open at 11:00 and the seating starts at 11:30. The show started around 12:15 and lasted until 1:45. The price for the brunch is $14.50, which includes champagne. There is also a $3.00 cover charge per person for the show.
A good selection of brunch items. The menu included items such as the Lips' omelet, carne asada with huevos rancheros, and seafood pasta. My wife had the seafood pasta, which included shrimp, scallops, and fresh fish in a vodka tomato cream sauce over linguini. I had the chicken parmesan served over linguini. Both dishes were pretty good and quite filling.
Lips is a fun brunch, but not for all. They are Drag Queens, and the innuendos fly around with colorful language. Unlike the gospel brunch at the House of Blues, the Lips gospel brunch is a tad twisted. We did laugh and clap quite a bit, as well as throwing dollar bills on the stage. My site has some pictures for your viewing pleasure.
Happy brunching, Jim
