Linda's Donuts & a question

Made the concerted effort to get to Belmont for donuts on Sat. but even at 11:30, they were out of plain. That's my barometer for testing a good donut but I made do with glazed and chocolate honey dipped. Pretty fine donuts at $.65 each. They were large, glazed was nice and light (I heard a Dunkin spokesperson say their glazed only has 160 calories), choc. was pretty typical. Glad I got there but hard to test with no plain and it wasn't donut nirvana like Allie's in RI.

I looked for the new cafe owned by ex Toscanini's people in Union Sq. that's been written about. Went into Grand Coffee (I think that's the name) just a few doors from the Independent which I don't think is the right place. It's a mish mash of furniture which can be fine but somehow here, it was just a mish mash. So quiet you could hear a pin drop. I felt too guilty to leave and was hungy so I got a chicken salad wrap ($4.50) which was a little heavy on the mayo and something made it sweet tasting. Wanted an iced tea but they don't brew their own and she was gonna take tea bags and put it on ice. This can't be the place that's been written about. But I took a walk around the whole square and didn't see anything else that looked like the place. Anyone know about it?
