Enjoyed breakfast and lunch at Lenny's in recent days and think it is a real find. Breakfasts come with a basket of pastries that are just plain wonderful. SO light, so deliciously cream cheese filled, so flaky, so greaseless, I could go on and on. Given a choice between this little basket of delights and the excellent basket of pastries at Rascal House in Miami, I'd go with the one at Lenny's.
Tried out the Deli Triple Threat--half sandwiches of pastrami, corned beef and turkey. Preferred the corned beef to the pastrami which wasn't lean enough for me, but otherwise pleased with meal. The potato latke side was crisp and savory. The male Coyote in our pack got a breakfast steak and eggs. The request was for medium rare on the steak and lo and behold it was honored! So often steak in the morning shows up gray. First rate.
Second occasion tried some classic breakfast items, pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage patties, toast, hash browns (available w or w/o onions and peppers, etc., and you choose your level of crispness!) all very good. Minor quibbles, I don't know what it is that I am encountering in local breakfast spots to pour over pancakes and French toast, but it bears no relation to real maple syrup, and I would opt not to include powdered sugar and almonds on the French toast.
The place was a madhouse on a Saturday at noon, but manageable on a midweek morning. Wait staff was REALLY competent, helpful regarding menu, efficient, we felt we were in the presence of pros. Kitschy diner/deli/baseball theme kind of cute. Deli items reasonably priced and breakfasts down right cheap. Closes at three so don't look to Lenny's for dinner. I plan on being a regular.
