Lemon balm is one of those plants that I like the idea of, but I really don't know what to do with it. Last year, when I shopped for my summer herbs, I bought one lemon balm plant. I never planted it in my herb garden and finally just stuck it in the ground next to my deck. This spring it came up, but I've been ignoring it. Today I noticed it's morphed into a bush, but few of the stems have what I'd consider "typical" lemon balm leaves. I'm guessing the other stems have gone to seed, or are about to. (I'm not much of a gardener, as you might have guessed.)
My questions are: can these "atypical" stems/leaves be used for anything? Is there anything I can do to bring back more of the typical lemon balm leaves? Thanks!
