We had dinner at Leila's in Oak Park last night. The restaurant is cozy and warm, with a wine bar with big couches on one side and an open kitchen.
The menu isn't long but everything on it looks great. Apps are $7 to $15, salads $7 to $10, entrees $15 to $30 and desserts $7.
They have a wine list with lots of interesting offerings. Unfortunately, I am on a no-alcohol diet for 6 weeks.
The men had corn chowder with lots of crab meat and chili oil. It had lots of crab and they both liked it.
One person had a roasted beet salad with a huge pile of sliced beets, a round of crispy goat cheese, and spiced pecans.
I had the mesclun salad topped with a port-roasted pear, blue cheese and pine nuts. Very good.
For dinner one person had a filet mignon, one had a pork tenderloin, one had something else, and I had butternut squash ravioli with brown butter and nice fresh strong sage.
Service was friendly and professional.
I would recommend it.
