Things to do with leftover fruitcake – no joke

rworange | Nov 10, 200609:40 PM

So the unofficial rule is you can only post a non-food joke with each REAL food idea of how to recycle a fruitcake.

Yeah, I know people love fruitcake. I love dark fruitcake too, but there are some I can’t stand ... the type with too much neon dried fruit.

This came about because The View had unusual stuffing ideas for turkeys, one of which was fruitcake.

There are also recipes for Honey Nut Cheerios stuffing, White Castle slider stuffing and flaming cranberry vodka stuffing (scroll to Friday)
http://abc.go.com/daytime/theview/epi...

Don’t know how long they keep the recipes on the website, so googling on the web, it seems it is just regular stuffing substituting fruitcake for bread ... diced celery, chopped onion, melted butter, eggs, Entemann's fruitcake (or fruitcake of your choice).

That was Idea 1 so let’s get the most common joke out of the way
Joke 1: Use it as a doorstop

Idea 2: Fruitcake bread pudding

Another idea was fruitcake plum pudding by boiling red wine, sugar, cinnamon and lemon peels. ... add rum and soak the fruitcake in this mixture. I dunno, that sounds worse than the original fruitcake.
Joke 2: Use it for speed bumps or to block the wheels of a vehicle

Idea 3: Chocolate-Covered Fruitcake Balls

Joke 3: Compost ... well, these recycling guys were serious about that

Idea 4: Fruitcake Coffee Ice-Cream Terrine

Joke 4: Give one to your boss and tell him it’s a life preserver.

Idea 5: Fruitcake Souffles

Joke 5: Keep one under your pillow for home defense.

Idea 6: Fruitcake-Stuffed Pork Loin

Joke 6: It's colorful, use it as a Yule Log

Idea 7: Pork Chops with Fruitcake Stuffing

Joke 7: Use it as building material. (This is actually what the Ancient Egyptians used to build the Great Pyramids.)

Idea 8: Fruitcake trifle

Joke 8: Use it for target practice.

Idea 9: Glazed Fruitcake Cookies

Joke 9: Ok, this is real, but funny. Attend the annual fruitcake toss. If you don’t have a fruitcake, you can rent one. There are weight classes and different competitions.

Idea 10: Fruitcake French toast, pancakes or oatmeal
In a Chowhound topic for different French toast ideas someone suggested using fruitcake ... soaked in eggnog ... sounds like killer French toast. An idea on the web was to incorporate chopped fruitcake into pancake batter. Someone added it to their oatmeal with their regular cinnamon and nutmeg. There’s a health self-canceling dish.
Joke 10: Wrap it up, put away with ornaments, use it to re-gift next year.
