We ate at Le Theatre after Berkeley Rep last night. Good but not great. Very pleasant room, good service, felt good to be there. And interesting menu, French w/ various ethnic accents. They gave us complementary radishes and salt--terrific. I got the price fixe, a good value ($25)--butter lettuce and pear salad, lamb, frozen coffee souffle w/ chococolate sauce and toffee crunch. The pear was cut up into small cubes and marinated in something, and there was a lot of it, so the salad was on the sweet side for my taste. The lamb was beautifully presented on mashed potatoes, cut a little thick, and a little tough, but nice flavor. And the dessert was very good--the souffle a little short on coffee flavor, but the toffee and chocolate were great. My husband's shrimp cake starter wasn't terriby shrimp-y, but the fennel salad bed was nice. He liked but didn't love the fish stew--partly not enough of it. And his lemon sorbet was a little icey, not as tart as he likes, but fine. We had a really nice time. Would go back.
