We ate at Le Theatre last evening. I think our experience was much like the previous post. The food was good not great. We ordered the short ribs which after what seemed like a very long wait, came to the table rather dry. The coucous was good. One of us had the lima bean soup du jour and the other the mixed green salad. The salad greens were ok with a handful of golden raisins on top. The lima bean soup was good. Service was another story..it seemed to us this must be the new group of Cal students. The restaurant has been open since February and this seemd like a rather mishappen group of waitstaff. There was a visible back up at the kitchen window and we waited a goodly amount of time between appetizers and entree. We skipped dessert and the meal took 1 hour 15 minutes. One server picked his teeth with his fingers while waiting for food to come out and then picked up plates to serve without a moment's hesitation. We had tickets for Berkeley Rep and did manage to get out on time but I'd say it could be a crap shoot for sure if one would make curtain. There is a shortage of good restaurants in quick walking distance to the theater making this a likely choice. I'd personally skip it.
