Le Petit Dejeuner - disappointing

Lazar | Mar 13, 2005 11:42 AM

Ok, I finally tried this place. My sister and I went there on Saturday for a light brunch/lunch.

I must say that the food was quite good. My sister had the Toast Champingnon, and I had the Peameal and egg sandwich. And the coffee was surprisingly good (I always expect places like this to have coffee that tastes like burnt cigarette butts).

What disappointed me, was the service, it was crap. They were friendly enough when we first came in and were seated, but after that, it went south quickly. We waited for quite a while for someone to come over to our table and take our order, and when they did come over, it was to ask us to move to a smaller table, as they had a party of 3 that needed to be seated, after we moved, I had to catch them before the left us at the smaller table to actually place our order. Then when I asked if they could add a couple slices of tomato to my sandwich, they replied with "Hmmmm, I will see what I can do." What the hell? I asking for a slice of tomato, not their first born child between 2 pieces of bread. And when I asked for the bill, I had to ask twice.

Anyone, that knows me, knows that I am a very patient and forgiving restaurant patron. I know that they were busy, but this was ridiculous. It took far too long to take our order, even longer to get our food, and I don't think that we should have to ask more than once for the bill...and to top it off, I ended up getting a parking ticket...BECAUSE WE TOOK TOO LONG!!

Sorry for this little rant, but dammit it pissed me off to no end. And the could have placated me, with a simple apology because they were slow.

Would I go back there? Not sure, but as a side note, it is not a really a place for groups larger than 2. Every large group that came in had to wait quite a while for a seat.
