I met with Maurice Thursday evening to discuss the menu. We came up with a general outline but some things will probably change depending on what looks good at the market. Well start with acra (spicy malanga fritters). They fried some for me while we were talking and they were very good. Then soup joumou (squash soup). Main dishes may include conch, turkey creole, red snapper, legume (a beef stew), and shrimp creole. Pain patate, like sweet potato pie I think, will be dessert.
There are a couple things I should mention. As much as I tried I was unable to pin Maurice down on a price per person. I suspect this was because he hasnt done this before rather than because he hoped to take advantage of us. Also whether we are encouraged to bring our own beer and wine is not quite clear. I hope to figure this out when I speak with him again on Saturday. Lets plan to bring our own and hope for the best.
