Just read two posts in a different link that bashed Laurial Plaza. two different lines of argument:
1) Food's not that good
To this I disagree - It is not the most adventuresome food, but they consistently turn out high-quality food in a nice environment. While I am not super-partial to their salsa and chips (chips too soft, and salsa too wet ((if you eat there in the summer on the outdoor wooden tables, you are bound to get it all over your pants and shoes)) - their salads are great, chicken and steak dishes are well prepared, and the same goes for their seafood dishes. All in all - compared to the other DC Tex-Mex restaurants, L.P. is pretty darn good.
2) It is not a hole in the wall joint like it used to be.
This argument drives me nuts!! Kinda like when you hear people go on how they can't like a band anymore because its popular and "sold-out." I imagine any owner of a tacquaria/pupusaria would be more than happy to have seen the success that the L.P. and C.C. owners have. Yes there are great dives where many of us hounds will drive an hour for a very good authentic experience, but there are other times when I want to sit in a nice restaurant with friends over drinks, and just have a good time - and for this Laurial Plaza gets two thumbs way up!
