las margaritas

dropped into the new (ish) place on b'way @ 38 st in astoria for the first time today and came away (mostly) impressed. the chips and salsa that came along w/the menu were mediocre at best: chips clearly made on site, but served cold and a little too greasy for my liking. the salsa, likewise cold, and only marginal in terms of flavor.

guacamole, on the other hand, was quite good. chunky, redolent of chipotle and cilantro (and the serving was bountiful). mains were, by and large, above average. a good mole sauce on the chicken, a cleanly fried flauta and a tasty, puffy sopaipilla. excellent refried beans and decent rice.

inexpensive enough to take another flier on as well. delivery and full bar too.
