Las Cuatro Milpas Review - San Diego (Chicano Park)

We happened upon this 73 year old taqueria yesterday when out and about and were drawn by the long lines.

I had the beans with chorizo and spanish rice, which was accompanied by the most delicious hot sauce (one of the dining mates found a chicharon in her hot sauce which i'm sure contributed to the flavor) and two homemade flour tortillas. This was recommended by the guys standing in line behind us and it was an excellent recommendation. I didn't eat much of the rice because the beans were so great, and I'm not a huge fan of beans. The chorizo was crumbled into the beans and resulted in a sort of Mexican chili. The fresh tortillas were heavenly.

Dining mates both had the beans and chorizo + huevos burrito. Said it was excellent but huge.

We shared an order of the rolled tacos. There were 5 rolled tacos which contained freshly shredded chicken, topped with lettuce, sour cream sauce, salsa and a cheese with cotija cheese. I could have eaten the whole plate but refrained.

Highly recommend if you're in the area, but be prepared for a wait. The interior is no frills with tables and folding chairs but once you start eating, nothing else will matter. :)

Lunch for three people including 4 sodas was $20.00.
