Langostino is GREAT!

Katie Benes | Apr 12, 2001 02:14 AM

I had recently read a review of Langostino (corner of Front & Morris Streets in South Philly) restaurant in one of the local newspapers. My husband and I checked it out last night and it was excellent! We shared a bowl of mussels in white sauce and a mixed wild mushroom saute with shrimp for appetizers, both were excellent. We then had homemade lobster ravioli with a blush tomato sauce and lump crabmeat (best lobster ravioli I've ever had) and a veal with artichokes and mushrooms in white wine sauce (tender and made with REAL artichoke hearts with some flavor - not canned or jarred and devoid of taste). Everything was freshly made and absolutely wonderful. My only complaint was that service tended to be "leisurely", but certainly very friendly and competent. The restaurant seats about 30 people and is BYOB which is always a plus. The tab for this yummy feast was $38! I'm tempted to keep this one to myself, but I hope the Chowhounds help keep this relative newcomer in business!
