There's been plenty of praise (by me and lots others) of Langers pastrami. Just went there for lunch today and it is still mind-numbingly great. Thanks to this board I now order it hand-cut and it is even better.
But I also have to say that in my opinion they have the best fries anywhere too. I'm a sucker for krinkle-cut and I always seem to get them made perfectly here. Its really what makes Langers so special.
An analogy that comes to mind is Sandy Koufax. He was the best not just because he had the best fastball in baseball. He also had the best curveball. Langers is that way too.
Now, one minor complaint. I got a Number 1 to go for a friend. She likes the Russian dressing on the side. When i delivered the sandwich, I got this email from her:
Get on Chowhound ASAP and tell everyone Langers is using packets of day-glow, cloying, blandly disgusting thousand island dressing with to-go orders instead of their seemingly homemade, lightly sweet with a hint of sour dressing. Yikes!
So, make sure you tell them to put the real stuff in
