As an El Segundo office cog, you can’t help but get tired of the same old lunch spots. Recently my coworkers and I have been exploring our options, one of which is Lance’s Filipino Cuisine.
Located in a typical LA strip mall at the corner of El Segundo Blvd and Crenshaw, this hole in the wall houses a steam table of rotating Filipino specialties. There is always Chicken Adobo and Pancit, but on rotation are far more exotic dishes that include ingredients like pig heart, blood, and liver (I wish I knew each dish’s name). There are usually about a six to eight options in the steam table, one of which is vegetarian. My personal favorite, besides the Adobo, is the BBQ chicken skewers. They also have delicious lumpia that they fry fresh for you (usually takes about 15-20 minutes… we call ahead). My Filipino-American coworkers say that the food is very authentic. Although I can’t vouch for its authenticity, I do find it delicious!
A two combo plate with a generous portion of fried rice and/or pancit will set you back about $5.50. The cheap price plus really friendly staff make this a very solid option for lunch if you are in the El Segundo / Hawthorne area.
Curious to see what other hounds with more knowledge of Filipino food think of Lance’s.
