New York Chowhound reports back...
Lai Wah Heen for dinner. OK, I had VERY HIGH expectations for this place, and I was a bit disappointed. Only one of six courses of the "premium dinner for six to ten" is worth writing about. The scallops were amazing--scented with ginger that permeated the entire scallop. And the "Deep-fried filet of Atlantic codfish flavored with sweet soya sauce" was to die for. I found the tenderloin of beef curiously tough (????) and the lobster bisque had a very strange and difficult to eat puff pastry shell. The desserts were way too sweet, but I am not a fan of Chinese desserts to begin with...All in all I would go back, but for dim sum (this IS what they are famous for).
Just my 2cents!
