L'Absinthe Report - Boulder

Better promise than delivery. Since we once again could not get reservations at Frasca we decided to try another Boulder "newcomer." By the way, since the latest Frasca review in the Daily Camera, my guess is that you'll need 4 months to get a week-end reservation. Add to that they're infuriating policy of not answering the phone so you have to leave a message and wait for their call back, and I really dislike this place more and more.
Anyway, L'Absinthe has a great looking menu and nice wine list. But the reality was disappointing. Not terrible but nothing memorable. My wife's gnocchi was drenched in an oily sauce with hardly a flavor of gorgonzola to be found. My fish was done well, but again, not special and not worth the high price tag. For French/Med I'll stick to Brasserie 1010 or Mateo.
