Last Thursday night we celebrated my husband's birthday at La Viola/ Cedarhurst. There were 7 in the party. We ordered Stuffed Artichoke, which arrived looking limp, gray and overcooked from having been on the steam table too long. It was watery, tasteless, old, and the stuffing which was made up of dry breadcrumbs without flavor was cold in the center. The linguine with white clam sauce seemed to be canned clams, and was marginal at best. It also lacked flavor. The Chicken Scarpariello had spent too much time under the broiler. It was chicken pieces with a little parsley sprinkled on it. Absolutely no flavor or taste. The seafood salad was passable, as were the baked clams and the spaghetti with meat sauce. The desserts,American cheesecake was fair but the chocolate cake tasted stale. Like it had spent too much time in the refrigerator. I am sorry to see this establishment go downhill. The quality is no longer there nor is the tasty food.Has anybody else been there recently? I understand that they have opened another branch in Howard Beach. I hope that the food there is better then what we received. I have written to the owner,at his web site, but have yet to hear back from him.
