La Vecchia in Reno was delicious

Bob | Feb 1, 200409:34 PM

My wife and I ate here on Saturday night after having read several posts about it on this board.
Our bruschetta appetizer consisted of 6 pieces (2 each) of mushrooms, shrimp and cheese, and mozzarella-eggplant-tomato.
For our main courses we had a risotto topped with rare duck breast. The risotto had swiss chard and garlic mixed into it.
We also had lamb chops with string beans and mashed potatoes with garlic and lemon zest. The chops were infused with garlic, balsamic vinegar, and olive oil.
The service was attentive and under-stated, but our server forgot to offer us desserts. We were too full anyway, so no problem. However the de-caf coffee was terrible. This seems to be problem in Reno in general-bad coffee.
With two glasses of chianti riserva we spent about $60. Great food and a good value. We're looking forward to returning.
La Vecchia is at So. Virginia and Moana, near the Atlantis.
