Enjoyed a lovely meal at La Panetiere in Rye this week. It.s wonderful to see an old favorite thrive with nods to the present. I loved the Jonah Crab salad, Beautiful presentation, with big chunks of lump crab layered over delicious avocado. Although the portion was generous, I could have had a second one and called it my meal. But then, I would have missed my lobster medallions and chocolate souffle. Quite delicious, especially the sauce on the the lobster. DH took the tasting menu, and I was so happy to have a bite of his fois gras. Yes, some may deem it old fashioned, but it's amazingly good with perfect brioche. His scallops were very good, but he dove into the steak with pepper sauce. And the twist, served with spatzle instead of potatoes. They always seem much lighter in the summer than a potato puree which while good, might be too heavy for an August evening. It was so good, I think he forgot to offer me a taste! The service was friendly and attentive. And we enjoyed watching the staff inter act with a family. While it's not a family restaurant as we explained to our children, these children were so very well behaved, entertained by their books and art projects, and the staff enjoyed having them.

Definitely a keeper!
