My husband and I went to Lee's Garden Saturday night with a guest who had just arrived from Michigan. Our GPS acted as guide in your unfamiliar city. Things didn't look very promising on the way but once we arrived to a totally packed parking lot we felt our confidence in the SD hounds was well placed. This is a authentic chinese restaurant run, it looks like by Vietnamese. Anyway on to the chow, we had the spicy shrimp, hot and sour soup, mandarian beef and chinese broccoli in oyster sauce. Excellent. We enjoyed the many celebrations going on around us. Thank you to all who recommended Lee's. Sunday we went on the recommendation of the Rosengarten Report to Spicy City. I, the "spicy" one in the family was in heaven. If you've tried to locate schezwan peppercorns lately, an essential ingredient in that style of cooking, you know they are no longer available in the USA. Guess they must have a secret stash because their dishes were kissed with it. We had, as a comparison point the hot and sour soup, dan dan noodles, (Rosengarten's recommendation.) and the chef's special green beans. The hot and sour soup was good, but the noodles and green beans were exceptional. I'm already dreaming of when I can get a bigger group to drive down so we can try more things. If you haven't tried Spicy City - run don't walk.
