Last week, after touring the new downtown Catholic cathedral, my spouse and I walked to Olvera Street and dined at La Golondrina.
Happily, the dish I ordered is only made at this time of year (when pomegranets are in season), and I was able to enjoy the best Mexican recipe I've ever tasted (including places in Mexico).
The dish was Chiles Rellenos En Nogada -- the stuffed chile was covered with a sweet (not overly) walnut cream sauce sprinkled with pomegranet(sp?) seeds.
The waiter told me this dish is only made when pomegranets are in season.
The concierge at our hotel (the W in Westwood Village) afterwards told me this restuarant is the best one in this area. I can believe it based on this dish alone!
