2 weeks ago I had my usual apricot scone and bit into a stale, crumbly fake that tasted predominantly of baking soda. I asked the clerk if they changed the recipe and he answer, "I don't know...I don't eat them."
Everything there seems lackluster these days, down to the dead flies in the window lined with old baguettes. This place is sorely missing the touch of Nancy Silverton. Thank God Maison du Pain is close by.
