Definitely one of the BEST versions of KL-style Hokkien fried noodles here. Firstly, one musn't confuse Restoran Ahwa (新青山亚华福建面) with the almost equally famous Ah Hwa Fried Hokkien Mee (亚华福建面) situated in Paramount Garden (I need to go to there the next time).
Ahwa here is well-known amongst KL folks as "that Hokkien mee place behind Shell service station, on Jalan 222". Fried with lard, it's oily, lip-smackingly delicious with a "wok hei" fragrance, and packed with virtually a million calories. Sambal belachan (chilli-shrimp paste dip) was served on the side, to cut through the richness.
Another noodle dish we tried here was the yin-yeong Cantonese-style fried & braised "hor fun" & "mai fun" noodle mix. Eggy and tasty, the version here was a bit too soupy nonetheless - maybe the chief cook himself, Ahwa, was not there, and one of his minions did not exactly have his level of culinary expertise yet.
The neighboring stall there offered a respectable stir-fried cockle with chilli paste dish, replete with the flavors of lemongrass and other spices.
