Nirmala Vilas Restaurant in the mainly Indian neighbourhood of Sentul serves one of the best Indian vegetarian thali set in town: a mound of steamed rice, surrounded by turmeric-spiced long beans with shredded coconut, curried okra with navy beans, potato-cabbage curry, rasam/spiced tamarind soup, two types of curry gravy to moisten & spice up the rice, and milk curd. A crisp pappadum completed the picture. Be careful - the chilli heat has a delayed effect and creeps up on you.
Either the mango lassi or sweet lassi - rich & very sweet here - would be perfect to douse the heat.
