You'll need to come here early - say, 11am - to avoid the crowds which come for Ming Kee's very popular char-siu (叉燒) rice. And they usually sell out by 2pm thereabouts.
Ming Kee's char-siu is not as charred, nor overly-sweet like those you'd find at the Oversea restaurant group. I chose the "fatty" version today - and almost regretted my choice though: the cuts were overly fat, but that's a trait which is pretty much prized by local char-siu connoisseurs.
The chicken-flavored rice which was served with the char-siu seemed a wrong choice - plain white steamed rice would have been much better. A complimentary bowl of clear soup (pork & mustard leaves) which came with the char-siu rice set was nice.
