You probably already knew this, but Chimayo on the Beach isn't...

I used to like the NB Chimayo & needed somewhere to take my Iowan in-laws for their last night in California. They were at the HB Hilton, so I thought this would be a good beachy choice. It is on the bottom floor of the pier building & you are kindof in a hole & even if you could see out, all the grandstands are set up for volleyball & the upcoming surf contest (good luck finding some waves recently...) We could have been anywhere. Mango margaritas definitely uninspiring - couldn't finish it. Others like their Cadillacs. Rolls w/ butter seemed strange. Food was not surprisingly pretty dull (considering they ordered coconut shrimp, shrimp n chips & chicken taquitos - that's as wild as the in-laws get!) Had to order chips & Guac was bland - kept mixing salsa in, my swordfish was thin, but not bad, daughter's clam corn chowder pretty good & my husband's lobster tacos, which he had been promised were not breaded or battered were, the flour tortillas requested came out corn & the normal cabbage was iceberg lettuce. I knew we were in trouble when the waiter told my neice the popcorn shrimp were not battered. Anywho, no need for anyone else to repeat my mistake.
