Hello boys and girls,
I am breaking my self-imposed exile temporarily to make a public service announcement…
Someone has opened up Hello Kitty Chinese Cuisine in Hong Kong (between Austin and Jordan MTR stations), serving Cantonese fare for lunch and dinner. This is under license from Sanrio.
Besides having the whole place plastered in Hello Kitty imagery, many of the dishes have been especially created with the motif. There are 6 dim sum items, for example, and I thought pretty much all of them tasted as good as what one can find elsewhere.
A number of rice and noodle dishes were also created with the Hello Kitty motif, and these were more hit-or-miss. By far the stir-fried noodles with beef was the standout, as had been previously reported.
The restaurant takes only walk-in customers, although there is a private room available for booking for parties of 12 who are willing to spend a minimum of HKD 5,000 – which would be a real challenge without ordering the Hello Kitty wines they have on offer.
For those of you who know about my after-hours job, you know where to find my write-up.
