Had dinner last night at Kiriko. It is, and I know this is always a contentious pronouncement, some of the best sushi in Los Angeles. Their fish is always exquisite, and sitting at the bar I always get to try something new. Last night's meal included japanese baracuda and a salmon which they smoke themselves with heavenly results.
Make sure you leave room for the homemade ice cream. I usually order three or four servings so everyone can sample the incredible concoctions. If available, the sesame ice cream is my favorite, but the white truffle is always a crowd pleaser.
Why doesn't Kiriko get more attention? I feel like I missed something...Its so great, the chef is always very warm and friendly and is really preparing some wonderfully fresh and exciting sushi (traditional only...) Why is Sasabune always packed and Kiriko only half-full?
Kiriko is located on Sawtelle, just north of Olympic on the west side of the street (btwn. Olympic and the strip mall food court...)
