Killer Shortribs @ My Kitchen in Forest Hills

I just had dinner with my extended family at My Kitchen on Metropolitan Avenue and it was incredible!

Every meal starts with a basket of the most incredible thick sliced bread from Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. The olive bread is so lush the glossy black olives keep falling out on the table cloth. It's okay, enjoy it with the roasted garlic infused oil. The bread basket sums up the chef's attitude and attention to detail. The food is rustic - hearty mediterenean food prepared phenomenally well with inventive touches and made to be enjoyed in a happy group. Every meal there is like coming home to a holiday feast.

My Fiance ordered the short ribs which were out of this world! Fatty, succulent and covered in caramelized onions they were roasted to nirvana, but are certainly not for he faint of hear or cholesterol. I'm still dreaming about them. But watch out, the portion is overly generous, so unless you are looking for a triple bypass you might want to split an order of two ribs.

I made a meal of assorted appetisers including a steamed artichoke, some incredibly good salmon pate and picking off the plates of others.

My cousin had the shrimp parmigiana which was another coup. Instead of the limp coating an cheese smothering I was expecting, the shrimp were actually coated in a crust of parmigane filaments and deep friend into some kind of perversely great crisp cheese tempura.
